Lauren and Austen met in their hometown of Laguna Beach, California. The two took their first vacation together to Costa Rica and completely fell in love with the people, the beaches and, of course, one another. After lots of research, they decided to host their nuptials in the small surf town of Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. Together with friends from all over the world they gathered under a beautiful shade tree and said their “I Do’s”.

Janet and Mike have been together for 15 years and have two beautiful children together. They aren’t your traditional couple, so a traditional wedding never really felt right to them. Instead, the decided to host their private nuptials while on a family vacation in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Photography was really important to the two of them and we were fortunate to have some amazing locations to explore in the short time that we were together. Janet is really into the bohemian movement, so she chose a vintage lace dress, beautiful floral crowns for the girls and a set of funky quilted rugs to stand on for the ceremony. Everything came together beautifully thanks to the help of Kirsten of Four Winds Weddings & Events.

I first met Brandon and Marcella on a research trip that they made to Costa Rica a while back. Marcella’s heritage is Venezuelan and they were looking to fuse American and Venezuelan wedding traditions for their group. One of the biggest elements was incorporating lots of dancing into the evening. In fact, the dancing began immediately following the ceremony and continued well into the night.

I recently worked with an amazingly talented group of wedding professionals on a bohemian inspired styled shoot in our home town of Tamarindo, Costa Rica. My wife, Kirsten, owner and designer of Four Winds Weddings & Events and I dreamed up the concept for the shoot. Everything came together perfectly and all of the wedding pros brought their A game. Yesterday, the shoot was featured in one of our favorite wedding blogs, Junebug Weddings.

Danielle and Greg were looking for a fun Trash The Dress session on their honeymoon in Arenal, Costa Rica. We decided to capture some shots a farm in La Fortuna and then took the session to the beautiful Tabacon Hot Springs.
The other day I decided to bust out the studio lights and got some great shots of my daughter Jade. They were all so fun and different, yet went together so well. Here is a little animation of the highlights.
Jenny and Eric hail from Austin, Texas. These two first met at an art gallery opening back in 2009. The two totally fell in love when Eric play guitar for Jenny (giving credence to the idea that music is still a great way to a person’s heart). The two have been inseparable ever since and two weeks ago, they decided to have a simple, yet beautiful elopement in Arenal, Costa Rica. Jenny is now a certified yoga instructor and was totally on-board when I asked her to do her favorite pose in her wedding dress. We spent the afternoon walking the beautiful gardens of Nayara Springs and the many scenic tropical locations found throughout the property.
I woke up today with a message from Katie of Destinos saying that Jessica and Ashton’s wedding was the feature of the blog today. This was such a unique wedding with a beautiful couple. Click on the screenshot below to see the full feature.
Jessica and Eric gave their friends a choice between Costa Rica, Belize, and the Caribbean and it was a unanimous vote for Costa Rica. They stumbled across my work shortly thereafter. The two chose to host their destination wedding in Playa Langosta at Cala Luna Boutique Hotel. Playa Langosta just so happens to be where my studio is based. Although it is always great to work near home, there is always the added challenge of finding new locations, angles and perspectives for portraits in an area that I shoot all of the time. This was a fun challenge for me and it really helped to have a bride and groom that were on-board for any of my ideas.

When Cynthia and Michael contacted me regarding their Playa Langosta elopement last month, Cynthia mentioned that she is a photography enthusiast and could barely contain her excitement about her Costa Rica wedding. I really love shooting events for other photographers as they tend to really be into exploring different locations and mixing it up a lot for the shots. For this particular event, we offered elopement photography and wedding videography. Here is the teaser video that we created for the two of them.
